Pre-Kindergarten Readiness Class-time Aide- Afton

 

DEFINITION

Assist the teacher and other aide in teaching, behavior management, and preparation during preschool class time.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

• Assist during a 3 hour session in Afton, 2 times per week.
• Complete assignments given by Pre-K teacher.
• Help with preparing the classroom and materials.
• Attend trainings as needed.
• Provide children with experiences that will prepare them for kindergarten.
• Work with parents to help students be successful in the program.
• Help as needed and attend one parent night each month, including instruction, food, and childcare.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

• Early Childhood Certification or experience preferred

 

Knowledge of:

• Teaching methods, lesson plans, and activities appropriate for pre-kindergarteners.
• Characteristics, abilities, and learning styles of age 4-5 children.
• Parenting methods and ways parents can teach and encourage children.

 

Ability to:

• Work with, relate to, and motivate pre-kindergarten students.
• Communicate effectively with parents of pre-k students.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

• Able to get down and actively work with children at their level.
• Able to carry and transport supplies and materials to and around classroom.
• Able to drive to class in Afton 2 times each week.
