Job Description

 

This position requires expertise in educational programs, curriculum and instruction strategies for students in grades K-12. This position also requires expertise with principles, methods and concepts commonly associated with public schools. Directly related administration is necessary to assure success in a school leadership role. The job requires the ability to analyze and offer alternative problem solutions. Decisions made by the incumbent have a critical impact on the goals, organization and administration of educational programs and services of the school. Must be fluent in the English language.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES

  • Serve as the instructional leader and operational manager of the K-12 schools in Cokeville
  • Plan, design, and conduct follow-through strategies pertaining to curriculum development and the implementation of instructional programs and activities designed to meet the unique needs of students and the educational community
  • Work closely with the school staff in identifying educational and instructional needs and in developing long and short-range plans to improve the instructional process
  • Plans and implements in-service programs for all personnel
  • Supervise, direct, evaluate, and coordinate the assignment of instruc­tional personnel and student classroom assignments and instructional programs and activities
  • Assist the educational community in under­standing the goals and objectives, and the strategies utilized for achieving them
  • Establish and maintain a positive team building and team management system
  • Organize, conduct, and maintain performance evaluation systems designed to ensure that goals and objectives are achieved
  • Review and evaluate instructional and non-instructional personnel performance and provide technical performance evaluation input
  • Review, evalu­ate, purchase, and allocate instructional supplies, materials, and equipment within the allocated budget
  • Participate in the planning, develop­ment, implementation, interpretation, and administration of policies, rules and regulations
  • Design a master calendar of programs and activities
  • Keeps accurate and up-to-date attendance
  • Administers normal disciplinary measures in the school and keeps records on all disciplinary measures taken
  • Attends all administrative meetings and implements program suggestions or changes
  • Attends school board meetings and other meetings as assigned by the Superintendent or their designee

QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge of:

  • Principles, techniques, strategies, goals, and objectives of public education
  • Philosophical, economic, and legal aspects of public education
  • Procedures, methods, and trends of organization and management of a K-12 school
  • Curriculum development strategies, instructional delivery systems, and program evaluation processes
  • Evaluation techniques for determining program activity and personnel effec­tiveness
  • Human relations and conflict resolution strategies and team building techniques

Ability to:

  • Manage, lead, and direct the functions and activities of a K-12 school
  • Demonstrate an effective instructional, organizational, and administrative model
  • Systematically analyze problems, determine alternative problem solutions, and make appropriate and effective decisions
  • Communicate effectively in oral and written form
  • Understand and carry out oral and written directions
  • Establish and maintain effective organizational, public, and community relationships

Successful applicant must reside within the boundaries of the Cokeville schools.

 

Must hold or be eligible for an administrative certificate through the Wyoming Professional Teaching Standards Board.

 

In accordance with policy GBEC and procedure GBEC-R all new employees must submit to a pre-employment drug and alcohol test. Employee must consent to and provide the necessary documentation (fingerprinting, etc.) to allow for a criminal background check.
